A little over a year ago I sent a message out to MindHub to see if there were any graphic designers out there who felt like me—generally happy but yet somewhat dissatisfied—as if there were something more to this whole graphic design gig. And by "more" I don't mean more awards, more prestige, more money, or more popular—I mean more depth, more meaning, more purpose.

I was happy to discover there were! In January 2005 a group of like-minded graphic designers and web professionals came together in the spirit of collaboration and support to form the Fresno Design Alliance (FDA) . Today with more than 50 members and operating under the Fresno Arts Council�s 501c3 non-profit status, this group has become a way for Fresno area graphic design professionals to network, increase their knowledge, and improve their businesses through collaboration.

The Fresno Design Alliance is giving back to the community by their involvement with student mentoring, hosting community events, and supporting worthy organizations. Current FDA projects include:

• McLane High School ArtVenture Program (mentoring)
• Hosting the New Valley InForum Tiffany Shlain VIP Reception
• Fresno Arts Council ArtHop/Calendar Events List
• Fresno Creative Economy Council web design and hosting
